What is meant by Vedic Maths : Fast Calculation part 1

What is Vedic Maths

Vedic mathematics was introduced by Swami Sri Bharati Krsna Thrithaji Maharaja. He was lived in India and migrated to USA.

Is Vedic Maths difficult

Not at all. It is one of the easiest maths trick for solving calculation fastly. These maths tricks are useful for kids and those who are interested in mental maths.

Is Vedic Mathematics real?

Yes. It is tried and tested methods by different people likes kids, students, professors, mathematicians etc.

What is right age to learn Vedic maths?

All age people can learn, only required is interest to learn it. There is no age bar for it.

How long does it takes to learn Vedic maths?

It depends on person. Kids, students can learn easily. But everyone should practice regularly otherwise, it will not be easy while doing calculation.

Through out this blog I will explain different formulas for faster calculation.

There are different formulas, I will begin with small one, it will be helpful for beginners to understand Vedic maths.

Multiplication when done without calculator, it will be tedious process especially for larger numbers. We require base value for all multiplication done using Vedicmaths.                                           Let's start with multiplication of numbers 0 - 9. Here base value is 10.

For eg, we can take 9*7, first we want to write in 9 & 7 in left hand side, then in right hand side value of 10 - 9 against 9 and value of 10 - 7 against 7

      9-----1

       7-----3

for getting value of 9 * 7, we need to do  (a) 9+7=16, substract 10 from 16 that is 6. 6 is the left hand of the answer for 9*7.  Or (b) find sum of right hand side numbers: 1 + 3=4, then substract 4 from 10 equals 6,left hand side of the answer for 9*7. Or (c) cross subatract anyone left hand number and right hand number 9 - 3 or 7 - 1,equals 6. It is left hand side of answer for 9*7.

Now we want to find right hand of answer for 9*7. Multiply right hand numbers, that is 3*1=3. It is the hand of the answer for 9*7. 63 is answer.

Now I will tell variation of this formula for finding square of a number between 0 - 9.

First example is 9*9

We need to substract value of 10 - 9 from 9,for getting left hand of answer for 9*9. That is 10 - 9 equals 1,then 9 - 1 = 8. 8 is the left hand of answer.

For finding right hand of the answer, we must square value of 10 - 9, 10 - 9 equals 1. 1 square is 1.

So answer is 81.

Let's see another example, we can find 6*6.

Here we can first find right hand side. It is square of value of 10 - 6, that 4 square, it is 16. In this case 6 is the right hand side, 1 is carry forwarded to the left hand side.

Now we can find left hand side. We need to substract value of 10 - 6 from 6. Value of 10 - 6 is 4, then 6 - 4 is 2. While calculating right hand side, we carry forwarded 1 to left hand side, so add that 1 with 2, it is 3. So 3 is the left hand side of the answer for 6*6

So the answer is 36.

There are formulas for finding larger number multiplications. I will explain in upcoming blogs.
